![]() ![]() Probably the Super JX, possibly the Kurzweil- I couldn't say for sure. Roland Super JX (JX-10) Digital / Analogue SynthesizerĪnd no, I'm not the "youtube keyboardwizard".Īnd no, I'm not the "youtube keyboardwizard". I'm talking about that hollow "synth-choir" pad on the verses but I wasn't familiar with the VCS3 and clearly see now that it is a monosynth :D I just went through the gearlist to wright and found the synths used on the pulse tour. Rick Wright used Kurzweils live in the 90s- not sure to what extent he used these in the studio on the Division Bell, or if he used classic synths (think he still used the Prophet and Minimoog then) and recreated the sounds on the K2500 for the tours.Oh, my research is bad here. Maybe VCS3 on the breakdown in the middle of the song (that blippy sound with a downward filtersweep). It was a late 80s album, so maybe a few late analogue polysynths would have been used for pads and probably some early digital too. When you say VCS3 Pad on Learning to Fly, which bit do you mean? VCS 3 was a monosynth, so pads would have been a challenge to record (patience, arranging and multitracking). I did have fun with the On The Run sequence on my Dark Time and Dark Energy. ![]() I cleared these, so I'll be having fun working out how to get that sound soon (PW plus resonance). The Run Like Hell solo was a classic Prophet V sound- the Prophet 08 has several variants in the presets. Normally quite easy to get from sawtooth waves and a lowpass filter with envelope. Any new synth I get hold of I always get to know it by programming classic Floyd sounds- the soft horn sound from the song Wish You Were Here and the lead sounds from Shine On. ![]()
